The word KiraKira—the Japanese onomatopoeia for “sparkling”—captures our joyful, whimsical aesthetic. Born in Kyoto, and now based in the U.S., our work is rooted in tradition, modern aesthetic and creative expression.

Hi, I’m kyami!
I’m Kyami, a passionate portrait photographer with professional certifications in kimono dressing, tsumami zaiku, hair, and makeup. KiraKira Artistry began during my college days in Kyoto, where I first offered all-inclusive sessions free of charge to make kimono more accessible for students celebrating Seijinshiki. The joy it brought to participants inspired me to turn this passion into a career when I returned to the U.S.
My portrait sessions are my canvas—a space where I bring together all the skills I’ve cultivated over the years to create something magical and deeply personal for each client. Even if it’s your first time being photographed or you’re feeling a little nervous, just remember this: your only job is to be present. It’s my job to bring out your sparkle!

Delivery
After your final invoice is paid, you can expect to receive your digital images in a private online gallery within 2 weeks. While product production times may vary, please allow 3-4 weeks to receive any print products.
ORDERING APPOINTMENT
Directly after your session we'll take some time to unwind before selecting your favorite images for retouching and purchase. This is also a great opportunity to select and design any albums, boxes or wall art!
This is the extra fun part! We'll begin with some pampering in hair, makeup and wardrobe. During your 2-hour session, we'll guide you through posing; ensuring you feel comfortable in front of the lens. This is a time to enjoy and be in the moment while we create something amazing together!
YOUR SESSION
This is the fun part! Once you're booked, we'll let you know how to prepare for your session and nail down every detail of your look and vision; including choosing a location to match. Our goal is for you come to us feeling confident and excited about your photoshoot!

If you're interested in a session, book your zoom call with Kyami! We'll discuss the vision for your shoot and how to make it happen! We'll also review our packages and offerings in detail. This will be followed by a contract and invoice to secure the date.
